So we are getting closer to Compostela, this stage takes us from León to Ponferrada. Short stage around 100 kms. IT was holiday the day I left León so there was no traffic at all. I crossed myself with the bullring of León.
Arriving to Astorga is quite easy, flat 45 kms, good road and many cyclist too. Now I really liked Astorga, I was never there before and I really liked it. The cathedral is really worth a visit and the Episcopal palace too.
Since I liked the city and it was around 1300 I went to Main Square to have a beer and eat something.
At around 1500 started the route to Ponferrada, I decided to take the LE-142, instead of the N-VI. No traffic and regular road. One col ahead, Cruz de Ferro. Met a nice italian old man along the way, we made five or sic kms. together and had a nice chat. Last kms. of where a little tough for me, but I must admit that the views were amazing.
After Cruz de Ferro is all down towards Ponferrada. The views are nice too.
And we finally reach Ponferrada. The truth is that I didn’t liked Ponferrada, looked like an industrial city mostly linked to minery. Maybe I should have stayed longer. So far I haven’t had any issues along my trip, no flat tyre, no rain, nice weather. Don’t know whether I was lucky or I chose the right week for the trip.
